چکیده
A old previously healthy woman presented to our outpatient clinic with a chief complaint of a huge mass in the left buttock that had gradually increased in size during the previous 7 years. The mass was painless, but it caused great difficulty in sitting and walking. She did not complain about dyspareunia or any problem with defecation. Physical examination revealed a 10-cm cystic mass in the left buttock region (Fig. 1) that was nontender. Rigid sigmoidoscopy did not show any rectal lesion. The patient underwent magnetic resonance imaging of the pelvis. The representative images (Fig. 2, Fig. 3) are shown. What is the likely diagnosis? Leiomyosarcomas are rare tumours of smooth muscle origin, and there have been no reported cases of such tumours arising within the ischiorectal fossa. Surgical resection with clear margins remains the gold standard treatment; however, there is limited literature on surgical approaches to the ischiorectal fossa for such tumours. We report a case of a high-grade leiomyosarcoma in a 59-year-old la...
متن کاملSolitary Fibrous Tumor of the Ischiorectal Fossa : CT and MRI Findings
Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a mesenchymal cell origin that usually occur in the pleura, but the presence of these tumors are currently reported in a variety of extrapleural sites, including retroperitoneum (1-6). Because of the rarity of SFTs, information on the imaging features is sparse, and the radiologic features of SFT occurred in the ischiorectal fossa have been rarely reported. In th...
متن کاملGiant epidermal cyst in the posterior neck developing over 40 years: A case report
Conventional epidermal cysts are generally small, slow-growing, non-tender, dome-shaped lesions. An epidermal cyst is usually asymptomatic until it is infected or enlarged to the extent that it causes damage to adjacent anatomical structures. However, few cases of giant epidermal cysts in the neck have been reported. The present case reports a giant epidermal cyst in the posterior neck, which g...
متن کاملProximal Dissection and Rupture of a Popliteal Cyst: A Case Report
Popliteal cysts are swellings in the popliteal fossa due to enlargement of the gastrocnemius semimembranous bursa. These cysts might burst, and they usually rupture posteriorly and inferiorly with severe pain in the calf. We describe a patient with popliteal cyst that dissected proximally and ruptured in the soft tissue of the thigh.
